Joint pain is not fun and if you suffer from it, you are not alone. Millions of people suffer from it regularly. Fortunately, help is here! The focus of this article is to reveal the main causes of joint pain and supplemental solutions that have assisted many people in gaining relief.
According to Dr. Thomas Weber, an orthopaedics and sports medicine specialist at Advanced Healthcare, joint pain can be attributed to three main sources.
Injury
Including trauma, a fall, a twist or overloading of a joint that causes minor damage to the joint. With injury, people generally experience temporary inflammation and pain.
Degenerative Arthritis or Osteoarthritis
Frequently found in the hips and knees of people in their 60s and 70s, but also as early as 40 years old. This type of arthritis causes pain based on wear and tear of the joints.
Inflammatory Joint Disorders
When the capsule holding the fluid that lubricates the joint becomes inflamed and painful, inflammatory joint disorder is likely the reason. Types include rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis and infectious causes like lyme disease.(1)
If serious pain persists for more than a week, you should see a physician first and foremost.
Experts recommend that a person stays active despite some joint pain. Amazingly, rather than hinder joints, exercising actually helps tremedously. It's good to keep those joints fluid and active. Regular exercise should not be overdone and will help to strengthen muscles and allow joints to handle increased stress.
Supplements geared toward enhancing joint function can be quite beneficial and should be taken with consistency. The primary supplements found to assist joint and connective tissue pain relief and repair are:
- Glucosamine - Glucosamine sulfate, a small and simple molecular building block, is used to repair damage cause by arthritis or to aid those with joint pain by helping to repair and lubricate the cartilage around damaged joints. The body absorbs glucosamine sulfate quickly and efficiently transports it to areas of needed repair when ingested.
- Chondroitin - Chondroitin sulfate is a major building block of cartilage. Animal studies have shown chondroitin effectively promotes the healing of bone. It has also been shown to help people with osteoarthritis by playing a role in joint function and repair.
- MSM - Much like glucosamine and chondroitin, MSM provides the body with the basics needed to heal and repair joints. MSM has been found effective in the treatment of arthritis and other forms of joint degeneration.
- Bromelain - Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapple. It has been credited with a number of health benefits, including aiding digestion, speeding wound healing, and reducing inflammation (which is where it comes into play with joint support).
These are just a few of the best ingredients for joint support. Much more research and info coming soon!
